Tonight, RTE's Nationwide programme includes a feature on the Lions Holiday Project.

RTE Nationwide feature Lions Holiday Project

The Irish Lions Holiday Week is one of the largest service projects undertaken by Lions in Europe, if not the world. Each year, Lions Clubs throughout Ireland combine to give 900 "old and/or lonely" citizens a full week's holiday to remember.

Approximately 130 Lions or Helpers give up a week of their own holidays to look after their Guests in Trabolgan. In the spirit of Lionism, the Holiday provides these Lions and Helpers with an opportunity to renew old friendships and to make new friends from all parts of the country.

To date, over 24,000 deserving persons have been provided with a holiday at a total cost of well over €2,000,000!

The programme will remain available for viewing for up to 21 days from date of broadcast.

30 May 2010 - Big Breakfast for Galway

The Galway Lions Club will be having a 'Big Breakfast' this Sunday, May 30, in a bid to raise vital funds.

The breakfast morning will take place at the Ardilaun Hotel from 11am to 1pm and will be a great family fun day out.

Entertainment will be provided and all money raised will go towards sending elderly Galway residents to a fantastic holiday in Trabolgan.

This holiday is a lifeline for many who may otherwise not be able to travel and get away for a well deserved break.

All are welcome to eat up and enjoy a great 'Big Breakfast' for a good cause this Sunday at the Ardilaun Hotel.
