Helpful Tips to Fundraising

1: Pick Your Event

Choose what type of event you want to organise to raise funds for Galway Lions club. Whether a bake sale or a headshave, the main steps for planning are the same. If you have an idea and would like to talk to someone about it, call Pat on 086 1716260 or email us at info@galwaylionsclub.ie for more information.

2: Select Your Date

Pick a Date for your event to take place. Have a look at other events in the area and see are there anythings that may clash? Are there large sporting events taking place, or are other charities having an event that is similar. Bear in mind that there will usually be something else competing for an audience. It is your job to make sure that your event is the one that everyone wants to go to!

Once you have chosen your event and date, let us know. We are here to help, give you advice and support and send out any materials you may need.

3: Set Your Fundraising Target

It is always good to have a target in mind when organising your event. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount, but it can help when you are pricing tickets and promoting the event.

4: Register for your Online Fundraising Page

By registering your own online funding page people can donate to your event no matter where they are in the world. And the donations are fully secure and safe. Plus, you don’t have to worry about collecting money from people afterwards.

5: Start Planning Your Event

Sit down with your family or friends (you will need helpers) and write down all the things you need to do. Do you need to book a venue? Or hire a band? Create lists of tasks and allocate your helpers jobs to do by a certain date. Download our lists to help you with your planning.

6: Tell Everyone

Tell as many people you can about your event. Use email, text, Facebook and local papers and radio to create lots of awareness about the event. Don’t forget to tell people why you are raising funds for Galway Lions Club..

If people can’t go to your event, ask them to consider buying a ticket anyway so that they can still support it.

7: Be Safe

To make sure your event is a success be sure that it is safe – do you have enough volunteers and helpers on the night. If you are expecting large crowds, do you need to arrange security or additional insurance? Do you need to have medical support if it is a sporting event?

If you need further advice then please contact us or Email us and we will get back to you.

8:Have Fun and Enjoy Your Event

Remember to enjoy your event. Have fun and enjoy all the hard work you and your team have put into the event.

Take lots of pictures & send them to us.

Remember also to thank everybody who supports your brilliant event.

9:After the Event

Return the funds you have raised us as soon as you can. This way we can send out Thank you letters and certificates which you can show everyone who helped out. Plus, the sooner you return funds to us the sooner we can put those funds to work. Contact us or Email us for the various ways you can return money to us.

Make sure that you say Thank You to everyone who helped you with the event -whether they were volunteers, donated prizes or gave you a venue. Saying thank you shows that you appreciate their support.

Finally, use Facebook, email, twitter and text and local media again to let everyone know how amazing the event was and how much was raised.

THANK YOU
